"The
St. Louis Schools Watch was founded on the premises that parental
and community involvement are needed for good schools to flourish,
and that public participation is a cornerstone of democracy. The
Watch offers information and analysis that we hope contributes to
a public debate over what changes are necessary to improve St. Louis
public schools, and what works."
In another sign of having moved on, the district is about to replace the fired Floyd Irons as head coach of Vashon basketball. Read more here.

Congrats to whoever made that decision. If that's not one of the smartest decisions made lately, I don't know what it would be. What a choice, if it's true!
Agreed! Too bad Floyd can't be happy for his former student. It's too bad, it's still all about FLOYD. I don't understand why the man just can't move on. No one did this to him, but himself. He was the one that should have kept up with the financial accounting for the sports programs for Vashon. If he worked for a company in that capacity and didn't do his job, he would have been fired from there also. Financial accounting is crucial in any business. Just because you're an excellent coach doesn't excuse you from doing that part of your job, especially in a district with so many money problems. He has no one to blame but himself for not having a job. If he was/is truly doing what's best for the kids, school, or district, he would move on. The appointment of Anthony Bonner appears to be the best thing at this point, for the students and the school to move forward and still have a world class basketball team. Anthony definitely comes with great experience on the basketball court. And maybe he can do something about some of their other teams too!
Great choice. It should be noted that we grow older in our careers and now it's time to train and mentor those with the same vision and talent. Besides, it's for todays youth in sports. I will continue to attend and support Vashon's Basketball program with AB as I did with Irons. Good job to whomever initiated and carried out the selection.
